HotelGoGo launches the luxury and unique property channel

New features keep coming up on Travel Agents @ HotelGoGo. We are proud to announce that a new booking channel is now available: luxury and unique properties.

As customers are more and more demanding we felt that it was necessary to create a special area dedicated only to 4 and 5 star properties.

Once you have identified the required property all you need to do is either view the availabillity calendar or, if in need of any further information, go to the property details.

Welcome to the new release!

After several months of work, finally the new release of Travel Agents @ HotelGoGo is available.

There still are some modules that need to be activatd but the core application has brand new search and booking functionalities, great security features and a much easier navigation.

In the next weeks the following modules will be released:

- Your Bookings: an area where travel agents will be able to see the status of their bookings

- Geographic search: a visual search engine that runs on maps and satellite pictures.

HotelGoGo is a company specialized in providing independent accommodation providers and travel agents with low cost efficient electronic distribution solutions.

HotelGoGo has developed a new distribution platform for hotels called TeaPot which is distributed worldwide through a large network of local agents. From this platform stem out the online booking solutions targeted to both Travel Agents and final consumers.

HotelGoGo's CEO is Paolo Bartolozzi. His solid education in economics applied to Hotel management, results in over 17 years spent working in Hotel, in Italy and Southern Europe, from Night Auditor up to luxury Properties General Manager. At one point of his career, he took a 3 years break from the Hotel management to follow his great passion: the IT world. He gained the know how of the PMS at IBM, in the Hotel Software Department. Then, between 1999 and 2005, from the cockpit of Book A Hotel International, Paolo has become Mr. WorldRes in the Mediterranean, enhancing the sales of over 1300 properties in Italy, Malta and Greece through this leading online channel.
Though, Paolo never sits on his results, as he loves difficult challenges. He has the soul of an old fashioned hotelier with the sparkling mind of an IT wizard.

Malta: why should you send a customer there...

Malta has been launched on this site just a few days ago and it is already attracting the first reservations. However this is an un-usual destination for most agents and we feel that we should provide you with more tools to understand the "how", "who" and "why". Here at HotelGoGo we have direct and in depth experience about Malta which we are very happy to share with you.

The Maltese Islands offer an exhilarating contrast of colours: the azure of the Mediterranean, the mellow honey-coloured limestone which characterises the architecture, and clear skies. The Islands are a feast for the senses.

Everywhere you go, a unique historic sight awaits. Temples, palaces, cathedrals, and forts provide a living history you can almost touch. Sound plays an important part in the life of the Islands. The mix of fireworks and village band marches transforms a summer night into a special memory. The advantage of a stay on the Maltese Islands is that you can experience several holidays in one.

Cuisine here is a taste of the Islands' multicultural heritage. Local restaurants offer a creative selection of tempting fare. After dinner, night clubs, wine bars and casinos beckon with their own brand of excitement.

To experience all this, you won't have to travel far. Just a few hours flying time away from most European cities, the Islands are serviced by direct scheduled flights operated by the national carrier and major international airlines.
With such an agreeable climate, there are a wide variety of land and sea sport facilities available on the Island. Malta’s largest sports centre (The Marsa Sports Club) is about 4 km (2.5 miles) south of Valletta and lists among its numerous features an 18-hole golf course, miniature golf, 18 tennis courts, 5 squash courts, cricket grounds and a swimming pool. Tourists can join the club on a weekly basis while they vacation in Malta. For golf, non-members are welcome and clubs can be rented at the facility.

Many of the hotel facilities often include tennis courts, squash courts, weight rooms and saunas. Most hotels also offer water sport facilities, including scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing and sailing.

Horseback riding is a well-liked activity by the locals and horse racing is Malta’s prime spectator sport, with races held every Sunday, between October and May.

Maltese lawn bowling and tenpin bowling are very popular at the local level and one can play lawn bowling in most villages. Clay pigeon/skeet shooting is common, with competitive/practice shootings taking place on Sunday mornings.

The Malta Marathon is held at the end of February and attracts several long distance runners from around the world and the Malta Amateur Athletics Association also organises a great number of events such as road races, cross country races and track and field events.

Of course, water sports play a big role in the activity range on the Islands and equipment is available to rent at almost every major sandy beach or beach club.

Paragliding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing and scuba diving are all enjoyed by locals and tourists. Sailing regattas are held regularly between April and November, including the Comino Regatta in June, the Malta- Syracuse race for keelboats in July and the Rimini- Malta-Rimini Yacht race in August. Good facilities for boat rentals and yacht charters exist throughout the Island.

HotelGoGo and Alpine Sterling open new destination: Malta

Malta is a small group of Mediterranean islands roughly 80 miles south of Sicily. It has been an important tourist destination for many years and now it is covered by low cost airlines networks such as the Irish Ryanair. The destination is very interesting all year round as it combines activities which are related to the sea (from simple beach basking to extreme diving), history and culture (thousands of years of human presence have left their mark!), nightlife (the casino, clubs and discos) and wellness. The climate is superb, normally allowing travelers to wear only a light jacket in mid winter. Being so close (approximately 1 hour from Rome, 1 ½ hours from Pisa, 3 hours from London Luton), Malta may become a natural extension for long haul travelers coming to Europe.

Venice Lido: the perfect location

For all those who have been for some time in the travel business Venice is definitely one of the prominent destinations. The small alleys, the canals and the museums are definitely the upside of this magic city set in the water… but there are also large amounts of tourists, souvenir shops and a generalized lack of space and tranquility.

At the end of a day of trotting around between Rialto Bridge, Saint Mark’s square and the Accademia it would be nice to have, at a short distance, a green area where to relax and perhaps bask in the sun, jump in the sea, ride a bike or play a game of golf.

Is there such a place in Venice? Well, yes and its called Lido.

Lido is a long and narrow sand island that closes off the Venice lagoon, marking the border with the Adriatic Sea. The north tip of the island is more populated whilst the south has beautiful countryside villas, converted farmhouses, beaches and a golf course. Also, it’s one of the few places in Venice you can get to … by car!

From Lido there is only a ten minutes boat ride to Saint Mark’s Square. The route is included in the 3 day public transport pass that is the most convenient way for going around in Venice. Lido is also where the Venice Film Festival is held every year in September.

We have a very good selection of hotels located in the Lido area. Actually, these are the places we would be going to when in Venice, with a much better value for money and none of the difficulties normally encountered when staying on the main islands.

2007: an exciting new year

First of all the HotelGoGo team wishes a great, prosperous, peaceful and healthy new year 2007 to all the Travel Agents participating in this site!

Here at HotelGoGo we are working "full blast" to finalize projects that will bring you more destinations and new functionalities within the next weeks.

In particular:

A - Destinations

Italy: a very large amount of independent properties all over major and minor locations, with an emphasis on bed and breakfasts, ecotourism, farmhouses and historical mansions.

Malta: a great selection of 4 and 5 star properties, both on the main island and in Gozo; this can be a perfect extension for those travellers who wish to couple Italy with some seaside time (diving, water sports or just simply sun bathing). It's just a one hour flight from Rome. Ground services can be arranged upon request.

Australia: Mark, our partner "down under", is continuing his quest for the perfect inn; every month new properties are added.

Cyprus: some very nice new properties have decided to join the HotelGoGo network. Soon to be uncovered, we will keep you posted!

B - New functionalities

The new online booking reconciliation tool is about to come online. You will be able to check out at every moment the status of your bookings.

The booking engine is being upgraded again! Broader search functions and the possibility for you to integrate it in your website.

All this is a major endeavour for HotelGoGo but we know that for yu out there in the market there is need for always more content and a faster and more efficient booking experience!
